At The Closet Exchange in Valparaiso, Indiana the consignors receive 45% of the sale and we offer the opportunity for you to retrieve any clothing that may have not sold. Now entering our 10th year, we are familiar with retail prices and will price your clothing accordingly.

Things You Should Know about Consigning 

What Should I Consign? The Closet Exchange is looking for upscale women’s clothing; casual wear, professional attire, formal wear, furs, shoes,jewelry, purses and accessories.

All Clothes Must Be:
In-Style – Not more than 3 years old with a retail value of $40 to $50 and up.
In-Season – Our acceptance schedule is Spring & Summer beginning Feb 1st. Fall & Winter Beginning August 1st. Furs Sept 1st. Prom gowns Feb 10th.
In Excellent Condition – No missing buttons or faulty hardware, free from stains, smoke, excessive wear, pilling, alterations or flaws that effect the salability. We accept clothing Monday through Friday from *10-4 (Saturday by appointment only).
Hangers - We ask that all clothing be brought in on hangers so that your items are not wrinkled,
No Exceptions.

Pet Owners: Please make sure your items are clean of any pet hair.
Smokers: Please make sure your clothing is smoke free.
Yard Sale Tags: Please, remove all yard sale tags prior to bringing clothing in.  

It’s All About Presentation! The nicer your items look, (i.e., being cleaned, pressed and on hangers), the nicer your consignment check will look! Please do not be offended if we cannot take all your clothing, due to overstock and customer demand.

What Happens Once I Consign? We will consign your clothing for 60 days. Clothing not sold within the 60 days must be picked up by the expiration date given. No exceptions. Any clothing remaining after the expiration date becomes the property of The Closet Exchange. All items will be sold and a portion of the proceeds will go to charity. 

How Do I Get Paid? You will receive 45% of what the item sells for. Monies are available for pick-up the first of every month. We do not mail checks. If you would like to inquire about your account or receive a print out of your inventory, please feel free to stop by and ask. We cannot disclose any amounts due to you over the phone.

****Why no clothing accepted after 4 pm? We can get in up to 200-300 pieces a day and by stopping at 4, this allows us to get the clothing entered and on the floor before the start of the next day when clothing starts to arrive again at 10. As stated above if you cannot make it during the week by 4 PM, please feel free to make an appointment on a Saturday. ****
